Sanjeevani Trust, established in 2014 under the Indian Charitable Trust Act, is a grassroots nonprofit organization committed to holistic rural development. It operates primarily in the districts of Prayagraj, Kaushambi, and Chitrakoot in Uttar Pradesh, and has gradually expanded its presence to remote tribal and backward regions of Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh. Sanjeevani's mission is to empower marginalized communities, particularly Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST), and Economically Weaker Sections (EWS), through integrated efforts in health, education, sustainable livelihoods, environment conservation, and women’s empowerment.
One of Sanjeevani’s key areas of work is rural health, with a strong focus on menstrual hygiene, nutrition, and adolescent girls’ well-being. Through its flagship programs like Rajoshakti and Rajaswala and other block-specific interventions, the organization has reached over 19,000 women and girls across 51 villages with menstrual health education, free sanitary napkin distribution, health checkups, and nutritional supplement kits. Sanjeevani forms women health clubs in each village and conducts regular monthly meetings, awareness sessions, and community street plays to break taboos and create a more informed and supportive environment around menstrual health and hygiene.
Another core area is elderly healthcare, where Sanjeevani organizes free health camps for senior citizens in underserved regions. These camps offer general health checkups, eye testing, free medicines, and distribution of eyeglasses. Recognizing that elderly people in rural India often suffer silently due to lack of access to quality health services, Sanjeevani partners with government doctors and specialists to provide essential care at the doorstep.
In the field of livelihood promotion, Sanjeevani works extensively with moonj and bamboo artisans to strengthen traditional crafts, enhance income, and create market linkages. It provides artisans with skill upgradation training, access to raw materials, and opportunities to showcase their products. The organization is also involved in promoting organic herbal kitchen gardens under its Grih Vatika Abhiyaan in urban and rural households, especially among women, encouraging nutritional self-reliance and sustainable living.
Sanjeevani has made impactful strides in STEM education, particularly in government schools and underserved areas. It organizes science fairs, awareness campaigns, and hands-on learning experiences for schoolchildren to foster scientific temper and curiosity.
The organization is also actively involved in medicinal herb cultivation, environmental protection and afforestation, including initiatives like the Harishankari Abhiyan, under which thousands of sacred trees such as Peepal, Banyan, and Paakad have been planted in collaboration with local communities and the Forest Department.
